Dad charged in New Jersey child-on-child shooting death. he father of the 4-year-old boy who shot and killed his six-year-old neighbor in Toms River, N.J., was arrested Monday night and charged with multiple counts of leaving unsecured firearms accessible to children, authorities said.
On April 8, Senatore’s son found his loaded .22-caliber rifle lying around and killed Brandon Holt with a single shot to the head. His death was announced the following day at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
In addition to the rifle, Senatore’s children had access to more bullets and several other unsecured guns: a Stevens 12-gauge shotgun, two Harrington & Richardson shotguns and a Remington 12-gauge shotgun.
Senatore was charged with one count of second-degree endangering the welfare of his children for each of the five unsecured firearms. He was also charged with the third-degree endangering of Brandon Holt, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
